Our Mission:
Community Central works in support of the community, particularly the most vulnerable and excluded. It is a charity at the heart of its member organisations, bringing together groups, charities, social enterprises, businesses and the public to make an effective contribution to the place in which we live and work. We provide a circle of support for everyone looking to become engaged in our vision of a stronger, more resilient community. We want to educate, empower and enable people and groups to champion the change they wish to see in their communities. Community Central will provide the very best support and give a voice to the Voluntary and Community Sector.
About us:
Each year we support over 1000 local people to improve their employability and happiness levels via volunteering opportunities. We support over 300 local charities and groups to secure over £500,000 of funding per year, ensuring their own sustainability in delivering positive change in our District. We have supported over 80 Social Enterprises to set up, grow and flourish to deliver projects locally to meet identified gaps in service provision. By supporting networks between the voluntary, public and business sector we help to create a stronger, more passionate and more informed community.
Our value is recognised in the grants and awards that we receive, including from St Albans District Council, but we remain an independent charity.
