About

Our Mission:

The primary aim of the farm is to address the educational and recreational needs of local people with special emphasis being placed on children and young people coming from economic or socially disadvantaged backgrounds and young people with special needs.

About Us:

Kentish Town City Farm is a community charity that helps city people connect with animals, nature and the environment. It developed out of the needs of people living in an urban environment to connect with animals and nature and is a focal point for the local community today. Entrance is free but we rely on visitor donations for the upkeep of the animals. The farm is situated on a four-acre site, alongside two railway lines amidst dense local authority housing in the inner London Borough of Camden. There are approximately 50 animals, with pasture areas, a riding arena, a wildlife pond and community gardens.

We provide an extensive educational programme to schools, therapeutic riding to people with special needs and farm related activities to local children and families. This work is supported by the London Borough of Camden and the City of London Corporation’s charity City Bridge Trust. In addition, we have a lively core of volunteers who support staff in the day-to-day running of the farm and organise seasonal fundraising events. Young people between 8 -16 years also support farm activities through our Young Farmers Club.

As well as providing pony riding opportunities for local children the farm has also been offering Riding Therapy for children with disabilities for 40 years. We serve children with autism, learning and physical disabilities, including children who cannot walk or with limited mobility.

The main farm building provides facilities for children’s weekly play groups, creative activities and visiting school classes. In the farm kitchen, children learn to cook using fresh ingredients from our gardens. Our farm gardens provide opportunities for garden related activities for children and families as well as local community groups and projects. We also provide amenities to visiting corporate teams and host evening events & children’s parties. The indoor and outdoor spaces of the farm are available for hire all year round.
